Project WIRD
Wertschätzung und Inklusion gegen Rassismus und Diskriminierung
Appreciation and inclusion against racism, discrimination and discrimination
This project aims to empower those affected by racism and right-wing radicalism through targeted but different measures: panel discussions, anti-racism workshops for (young) adults and children, readings, advice weekends, anti-racist media work, storytelling cafés, film evenings, educational trips, city tours, literary evenings and art exhibitions with art as a form of empowerment for those affected by racism and right-wing extremism and as a form of strengthening social cohesion.
It is also about raising awareness of the social, psychological and physical consequences of racism and discrimination and therefore, above all, promoting and demanding a culture of appreciation and inclusion. It is about strengthening social cohesion and creating peace. The focus of the project is on empowering people and human groups living in Austria who are weakened by racism and right-wing extremism.
The project is based on the working hypothesis that a person’s behavior towards another person or a certain human group is significantly influenced by the positive or negative narratives that have historically or currently circulated in society about certain human groups. This applies to the Roma/Sinti ethnic group, transgender people, Jews, as well as to people of color, disabled people and so-called foreigners.
Culture, art, literature and science are among the four pillars of this project because they build bridges between people and cultures and thereby create social peace and cohesion.
