WOMEN’S VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROJECT (Yaounde/Cameroon)
The AFRIEUROTEXT WOMEN’S VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROJECT in Yaoundé/Cameroon is a sustainable project by AFRIEUROTEXT Austria. In many countries in Africa south of the Sahara desert, numerous young women and young people from disadvantaged social classes are unable to complete their schooling for socio-economic or socio-political reasons. They then become easy prey for sellers of illusions, who usually exploit the weak social agency or position of these young women and youth. This is a structural violence that forces these young women to live a life on the edge of human dignity.
The AFRIEUROTEXT Austria cultural association is financing the construction work of its educational, vocational training and information center for young women from disadvantaged social classes in Yaoundé (the capital of Cameroon) through proceeds from the sale of high-quality ebony works of art and books from the AFRIEUROTEXT bookstore. You can follow the development of the construction work here

“Act concretely instead of speculating about Africa” is the anchor for action and reflection of the AFRIEUROTEXT cultural association, which has been running an education, vocational training and information center for young women and young people from disadvantaged social classes in Yaoundé, the capital, since January 2014 as part of this sustainable project Cameroon, builds. The focus of the project is primarily on young women who are unable to attend school or have stopped attending school for socio-economic or socio-political reasons. This vocational training and information center will act as a safety net for education as a future help for self-help. The aim is to enable the project target group to complete schooling that will lead to gainful employment. Education and information are empowerment and liberation from the clutches of structural powers in the African context.
Privileged vocational training sectors are:
– rural textile processing
– medium-sized gastronomy in rural areas
– Production of cosmetic products using local plants
– Ebony crafts
– Establishment and management of small and medium-sized production units
The expanded program of this educational center includes regional awareness campaigns about illegal migration, false images of Europe, HIV and other endemic diseases that can have a long-term impact on a life worth living. This emerging AFRI-EUROTEXT education, vocational training and information center will act as a regional interface for the countries of Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, DR Congo and the Republic of Congo. In addition to the training and education program of this center, there will be a cultural program for international visitors and guests of the center as well as for Cameroonian/regional civil society.
